DESCRIPTION:This preserve includes about 240 acres of land that is made up of a variety of birdhabitats\, resulting in decent bird lists throughout the year. The trails are well markedand maintained\, however\, they can get muddy at times\, so appropriate footwear isrecommended based on the weather leading up to the trip date. Most of the trails areflat\, but there will be a bit of up and down in some sections. Our trek will take us mainlyon the Blue and Black trails. Depending on the number of volunteers\, projects can include: \n\n\n\n\nRake/blow debris off trail (rakes and/or leaf blowers)\n\n\n\nPick up garbage\n\n\n\nRemove larger debris from ditches\, including things like larger branches and logs\n\n\n\nDeepen or extend ditches (shovels)\n\n\n\n\nBe sure to register so we can plan for the exact activities and follow up with everyone on what to bring. \n\n\n\nNo matter the project\, wear sturdy shoes and bring work gloves.

DESCRIPTION:The bridge on the Gosnell Connector trail (from the Big Field to the Big Woods Trail) needs some TLC. The plan is bring mulch from the Baker Road entrance to the Big Field to bridge site\, and then spread use the mulch on the approaches to the bridge. An assessment of the walkway sections will be completed\, and sections may be removed\, if needed\, for future replacement. \n\n\n\nPark in the parking lot\, and we will walk to the Baker Road entrance. \n\n\n\nWear: work gloves\, sturdy shoes\, and bug repellent  \n\n\n\nBring: shovels\, wheelbarrows\, and metal-tine rakes\, plus water and lots of energy!
