A dozen hardy folks came out on Sat. April 12 to State Road Nature Preserve for the first workday of 2025. The main task at hand was removing small stumps from the trail to keep walkers from tripping on them.
While the trails were still quite wet and muddy, it actually made the work a bit easier — digging out stumps is easier in soft ground. Scores of stumps later, the trails are considerably more walker-friendly.
