Meadow Magic

Still amazes me after many years.

I monitor a bluebird box in the Small Meadow area of the Gosnell Big Woods Preserve.  This gets me into the field every week or so during spring and summer.  I get to see the changes through these seasons.

In early May the grasses are ankle high.  In a month they will be waist high.  Another month they will be chest or head high.  The grasses then flower (very small and delicate).  They then set seed and the seed heads droop under the weight of the seeds.  That is where we are now and when the flowering plants put on their show.  Treat yourself and take a walk.
