The Hickory Bark trail near the Webster Library is an oasis through the woods. Thanks to improvements from FWT, it’s now fully accessible so even more people can enjoy it. Trail Steward Sharon Galbraith consulted with an accessibility consultant to ensure compliance.
First proposed in 1965 by Ann Kreiger, the trail became reality in 2014 thanks to the work of Ann’s husband Harold.

Today, the trail boasts new gravel to smooth the way from the parking lot to the boardwalk and a new bench to replace one that had fallen into disrepair. FWT volunteers weeded around the trail, added logs to contain the new trail gravel, removed litter, and restocked the Free Little Library box. The trail kiosk has been upgraded, with new signage to be installed shortly.
Special thanks to Denise and Rich Bilsback, Sharon Galbraith, Tom Gibbons, Pat Fulkerson, Linda Siple, the Webster Library and Webster Parks and Recreation.
