Get yourself out to the small meadow of Gosnell Big Woods preserve NOW. The grasses which were ankle high a month ago have grown to head high, flowered, and developed seed. The abundant rain of the last month has resulted in several colorful wildflowers like butterfly weed (orange), cow vetch (purple), St. John’s wort (yellow), hoary alyssum (white), hawkweed (yellow) and Deptford pink(pink duh). The real treat is seeing as many as a half-dozen monarch butterflies in one field of view. Best time is in the morning.
