Measuring Up

“Year’s end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us.” – Hal Borland

As the days grow short and the cold creeps in, Friends of Webster Trails is ready to settle in – but not for a long winter’s nap. Rather, it’s time to take a look at the year nearly past, and to think about the one yet to come.

This was, by just about any measure, a big year. From the Hojack trail improvements to the benches, bridges and boardwalks built by scouts and students, the clearing of trees and the mowing of grass, it’s all made possible through the time, talent, and treasure from our members and donors that help keep Webster a place where trails are worth walking.

Picking highlights was difficult in such a big year, so we present a snapshot of the year. We hope we measured up.

Friends will be spending the next few months making plans to build on these successes. You can expect more trail improvements, some new trails (looking at you, Finn Park West), and lots of new trees. Check back often to see what we’re up to.

We are grateful for all who have joined us in any capacity this year, and who have trusted us to help preserve the natural spaces within the town. See you on the trails.
