Nearly 20 volunteers met on a perfect fall day to clear out two old trash dumps in Four Mile Creek Preserve. The trash dates to more than 50 years ago, and the decades have left mostly metal and broken glass behind.
The work was along the orange trail, which is a relatively recent addition to FMCP and is still being improved by Friends of Webster Trails. The volunteers cleared out old bed springs, car tires, pipes, and lots of unrecognizable metal bits.
None of the old cars were harmed in the removal of trash!
In one area, an entire bucket of broken glass was removed.
Safety first: trash grabbers were required equipment to pick up the broken glass.
Several scouts joined the work party to earn community service time, and they were joined by many others on a picture-perfect day. Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped improve our trails!
